Reactor15, a graphic design, web and app development company in Exeter, have released a free mobile app game called Trilobyte Free.

The game is available on iTunes, Google Play right now, with Windows Windows 8 in the next two weeks.

Trilobyte Free is a lush, neon take on the classic Snakes game, which was a popular early mobile phone game in the 1990’s. As you eat food, your character (a mathematically created trilobyte) increases in length and speed. In this version, food includes digitally animated frogs, slugs and worms, plus a spiky red predator who can tear off a chunk.

With one level, and endless play, the object of the game is to survive as long as possible. The characters are all mathematical algorithms – no animation was created for the game.

Reactor15 was founded in 2004 by Mike Saunders. Reactor15′s clients include dunnhumby, Glendinning, the NHS and South West Water.

Though Reactor15 has released games and business apps before on behalf of clients, this is their first free game to be released across iPhone and iPads, Android and Windows 8 platforms.

“Most of our app work is for B2B clients. But we’re interested in exploring the game market too. According to Cisco by the end of 2013 there will be more mobile devices on earth than people. If the game proves popular and gets good ratings, we’ll plan a second more advanced version. But we already have a few different games in development.”

Reactor15 have released the game for iPhones, iPads and Android devices via Google Play (coming soon on Windows 8) with plans for distribution via Amazon and Facebook later on this year.
